How to Clean & Care For Silver Jewellery

Silver is a very popular metal for jewellery makers, however even the highest quality silvers are made up of 92.5% of silver due to its pure form being too soft to shape. This means other metals such as copper are used to offer structure. This is why silverware and silver jewellery oxidise and tarnish (darken).

Keep Your Jewellery Dry

Try to avoid getting your jewellery wet or coming into contact with harsh chemicals or strong perfumes. Dampness, humidity and acidic fluids can speed up the process of tarnishing. Instead remove your jewellery before showing, before applying perfume and when cleaning with chemical sprays. If they come into contact with any liquids wipe dry as soon as possible.

Polish Your Jewellery
